Enabling Good Lives Midcentral Regional Leadership Group

Core Groups

Role of the Core Groups

Core Groups are the foundation of Enabling Good Lives MidCentral. They connect our community with the Regional Leadership Group (RLG).

Core Groups are accessible and inclusive places where people can share ideas, experiences and knowledge. They also consider how proposed changes could affect the community.

Who can take part?

  • Disabled people
  • Tāngata whaikaha Māori
  • Families and whānau
  • Other interested community members

How Core Groups support local leaders

Each Core Group meets before the relevant RLG meeting. This gives the group time to support and guide its local leaders.

Community views and priorities can then inform RLG discussions and decisions.

  • Core Group members may help host community forums.
  • If an RLG member cannot attend a meeting, the Core Group may provide an informed person who can step in.

Joining a Core Group

Membership is open and flexible. People choose whether they want to take part.

Regular involvement is encouraged. It helps each Core Group work in a focused and effective way.

Taking part is voluntary.

Core Group meetings

  • Local leaders who serve on the RLG attend Core Group meetings.
  • Groups usually meet once a month.
  • Meetings usually last about 90 minutes.
